I’m Kody Javaheri, a hospital-based psychiatrist in Canada. I work across inpatient, outpatient, ER, and consultation-liaison settings. What I share here is shaped by years of clinical work—but it isn’t therapy or advice. It’s something quieter: a place to pause and notice what we’ve been carrying.
Soul on Call is a reflective space for physicians—and for anyone who’s learned to move fast, carry a lot, and keep going. It’s for those who get things done, show up, and occasionally pause long enough to wonder: Where did my joy go? What happened to my sense of self? Why does “fine” feel… not quite fine anymore?
At the heart of these stories are Dr. Solan Call and his colleagues—fictional composites of the thoughtful, slightly frayed clinicians many of us know. They’re not in crisis. Just quietly living the questions that tend to follow us in this work: about identity, perfectionism, meaning, and how to keep going.
I’ve always been drawn to the quiet power of stories—the way they can hold what we don’t always have words for. I’m not here to fix anything. Just to notice, together. To make space for the questions beneath the schedules and checklists. To offer, maybe, a small shift in how we see—or remember—ourselves.
Why I Built This
I wanted a place to reflect—on work, on relationships, on how we’re moving through life. Not to solve a problem. Just to notice what’s here. Over time, I’ve come to believe that meaningful change doesn’t come from chasing it, and it rarely comes from a list of tips. It grows quietly—from within—through steady reflection and self-inquiry.
If you’re not a physician but something here resonates, you’re welcome too.
Read. Reflect. Take what helps. Leave what doesn’t. And if you ever feel a little lost—you’re not the only one. That’s part of why this exists.
A note on writing tools: These stories are shaped by clinical experience and refined with creative tools, including AI. Every word passes through my own voice and values. The goal is always the same: to create something honest, resonant, and real.
